Who We Are

In The Beginning
ALL WAS LOST is a Canadian Melodic Metalcore group from Edmonton, Alberta, which formed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. It started as a remote collaboration between guitarist - Jeremy Ulliac (Currently in Notedead), guitarist/vocalist - Jordan Wagnar (Formerly of Hollow Matter, & presently in Repulse Reprise & Yunglink), as well as drummer - Brett Boyne (formerly of Hollow Matter, Repulse Reprise, Our Last Crusade, SIONIS, & presently in HellXBoy). The group began under the name “Oceans Ran Dry” which composed some of the material that contributed to the bands debut EP release years later as All Was Lost.

In September 2020, Jordan left the band due to creative differences. Jeremy & Brett then recruited Lead Vocalist, Terence Thiessen (formerly of SIONIS, Above & Below, Of Worth, For Reasons Lost, WTHCNVCTN, & RIOT In Paradise). Together they reformed and rebranded into All Was Lost. Jeremy, Terence, & Brett completed the music & lyrics for the first EP, “RESTRUCTURE”, together in the Fall of 2020. Shortly after doing so, they recruited rhythm guitarist, Jace Houle (presently in Repulse Reprise & Yunglink) , as well as Bassist & primary back-up Vocalist, Justin Linklater (formerly of Above & Below, Sunscapes, Construct the Sky, & Questions for the Sniper & currently in Yunglink). Together they formed the first complete & original line-up while finishing the foundation for the first EP. This group also released the bands first two singles and music videos for “Closure” (February 2021), & “Shattered” (October 2021).
In November of 2021, All Was Lost had their debut performance headlining at The Polar Park Brewing Co in their hometown of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The show was one of the first of its genre to occur in Edmonton after the restrictions of the pandemic were lifted in North America. Leading up to the event, the group underwent its first set of member change-ups which began by Jeremy choosing to take a step back from writing & performing music. He took a brief two year hiatus from composing in musical projects until he joined Notedead in 2024. For a brief period of time between April 2021 - May 2022, Jeremy stayed loosely connected to the group, as a contributing member through engineering & production for the first record. After finalizing the recorded tracks for the debut EP, he decided to depart from the group indefinitely.

In response to his departure, AWL welcomed back former Oceans Ran Dry member & previous All Was Lost vocalist, Jordan Wagner as a guitarist & back-up vocalist. The band performed its first set of shows with Jordan in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada & Red Deer, Alberta, Canada between November and December of 2021. Shortly afterward, Brett also departed from the group to join SIONIS and to begin a new project with some of the remaining members of AWL, including Jordan Wagnar & Jace Houle which became known as Repulse Reprise. Around the same time, Jordan & Jace also joined Justin’s primary project, Yunglink, as guitar players & back-up vocalists. Jace & Jordan left behind three demo songs to be repurposed by AWL & took the rest of their material with them to Repulse Reprise. The songs they left were working titles “Leviathan demo” (which later became “Leviathan”), “Sharkmouth” (which later became “Akeilus”), & “Oceans Ran Dry” (which became “Bones”). The remade versions of these songs have yet to be released.
The Early Years

In January 2022, Christopher Landry replaced Brett as the drummer. A few months after Chris joined, Jordan & Jace informed the group of their decision to depart from the group and switch their focus to Repulse Reprise. All Was Lost went through a brief hiatus between the months of May 2022 and September 2022 while Terence, Justin, & Chris searched for new members together. In September 2022, Daylan McCormack & Nolan Fecho joined Terence, Chris, & Justin as the bands new guitar players. Shortly after they joined, Justin left the band to pursue his main project as the lead vocalist of Yunglink. Following Justin’s departure, Landon Turlock joined the band as the bassist in October 2022. This second complete lineup change was announced in the Fall of 2022 & stayed together until the Spring of 2024.

Together Terence, Nolan, Daylan, Chris, & Landon finished the debut EP - “Restructure” with Brandon Bollinger of Unkindled Audio. Restructure was celebrated by a hometown tour kick-off show in Edmonton at The Starlite Room and was followed by the bands first ever tour across Western Canada which spanned the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, & British Columbia in the Spring & Summer months of 2023. Following the tour, the members welcomed early collaborative efforts from another local musician and vocalist - Brendin Evans (Formerly of Last Chance Hollywood). Brendin co-wrote some vocal ideas for new material with Terence between the months of August & December 2023 but officially joined the band as the primary clean vocalist & second front man in January 2024.

The group performed one hometown show & one festival in Calgary (The first ever Gatorfest) in the month of January 2024. They then spent the following months writing new material & preparing for the 2024 summer festivals in Alberta. As a result of unforeseen health & travel circumstances , as well as creative differences, both Landon Turlock & Chris Landry announced their plans to leave the band shortly before these festivals in May 2024. They were followed shortly by Nolan, Daylan, and Brendin. The departing members took with them all of the music composed in the group during the years they were involved minus three demo songs which they left with AWL. The working titles for those three tracks were “Leviathan” (which was rewritten into “Stay With Me”) as well as “Unspoken” & “Lighthome” (which the band intends to rewrite & repurpose on future albums).

The Future
Cody Perreault (AKA: Kode-Red) formerly of Bury Me Jack & Surrender to Reason joined as the bands newest guitar player in October 2024. He played his debut show with the group in Edmonton Alberta at The Starlite Room in November 2024. In January of 2025, Terence, AJ, & Cody recruited bassist & back-up vocalist, Taran Wickstrom (formerly of Bury Me Jack with Cody), & second guitar player, Nathan Begin (of WTHCNVCTN).
Today the band is composed of the following members: Terence Thiessen (Lead Vocalist & Frontman), Cody Perreault, (Guitarist & Back-up vocalist), Nathan Begin (Guitarist), Taran Wickstrom (Bassist & Primary Clean Vocalist), and AJ Howse (Drummer & Back-up Vocalist).
The group is working on their second album & has plans to tour across Canada in the Spring/Summer of 2025. The record to be titled “Mourn the Storm EP” is a concept album about grief & loss primarily influenced by the band members personal experiences of loss in their lives. These experiences include a good friend of some of the members & an important member of the Edmonton music scene, Levi Houle. Much of the lyrics were written in tribute to the life of Levi, who passed away six years ago in February of 2019 (R.I.P). “Mourn the Storm” tells a story of loss & the cycle of grief containing sentiments of the initial shock/feelings as well as reflection & contemplation up to five years later. The lyrics began as a result of a poem Terence wrote to Levi on the way to and from his wake & funeral & as a result of a promise Terence made to Levi that he would give that poem meaning & purpose by using it in music to spread awareness & inspire healing. The EP is projected to drop in June 2025.

Recent News
The collective departure of the band’s second complete line-up in the photo below occurred near the end of May 2024 directly before a number of summer festivals AWL was scheduled to perform at in the province of Alberta. The festivals (Decimate Metal Festival in Millet AB, Alternative Waves Music Festival in Medicine Hat AB, Summer Slam in Red Deer AB, Munkfest in Edmonton AB & Moments Fest in Siksika, AB) were to take place between the dates of June 15, 2024 - September 1, 2024.

Taken two months prior to the collective departure of former members, Daylan, Landon, Nolan, Chris, & Brendin.
Due to the professional commitments of AWL & the previous members inability to follow through on performing them, Terence teamed up with local musicians - Christopher Scouten (formerly of Armifera & Submerge the Sky), AJ Howse (formerly of CASTLES, Tama Hills, & presently of WTHCNVCTN), as well as twin brothers Shaun Poniewozik (Presently of Repulse Reprise & Gloom, as well as formerly of Stallord & Point Place) & Ryan Poniewozik (formerly of Stallord, Point Place, & Gloom) to play the remaining festivals. The group committed to a three week turn around to learn and practice material together before performing for the first time in early-mid June 2024 at Decimate Metal Fest & Alternative Waves Music Festival. The band also recruited a back-up session Bassist, Joshua Penney, for two of the festivals that Shaun was unable to perform at (Decimate Metalfest & Alternative Waves Music Festival). Josh later became the bands Manager from June 2024 - November 2024 when he stepped down for a variety of personal reasons.
Photo cred: June 2024 - By Kitrina Brodhecker.
Following the end of the first festival in June, everyone who had banded together for these performances decided to become full time members of the group along with Terence. This new line-up was announced in July 2024. Out of the members who joined, only Terence & AJ remain part of the band today. Chris Scouten was removed from the group in September 2024, followed shortly by Ryan & Shaun in January of 2025 due to unforeseen & challenging behaviors that no longer aligned with the vision & values of the band. AWL wish’s them well in their future endeavors.
The members who were asked to depart from the group took with them all of the material that was composed and collaborated on during the time of their involvement. Leaving the group with only six songs from previous years 4 years to rewrite. The material to come in the future will be a combination of these earlier songs re-written as well as brand new ones the currents members compose together. One thing is for certain though, the elements that make All Was Lost the heavy but beautiful, catchy but technical & emotional yet punchy powerhouse of meaningful messaging that it has always strived to be is in full swing in 2025. The band is hopeful about the future & has no intention of slowing down. In fact, its likely that things will only pick up from here on out.
